Hanumantiya island is a newly introducted water tourism destination in Madhya Pradesh. It is near to Khandwa town. Hanumantiya island is developed and promoted by Madhya Pradesh Tourism. The name “Hanumantiya” is derived from local village name. According to State Tourism Department this region is suitable for water tourism activity. The whole water tourism project is developed over Indira Sagar Dam. Indira Sagar Dam is a multipurpose project at Central India. It was built on Narmada river. This Project was started in year 1984 by Prime Minister but main-dam construction started in year 1992. It was finally completed in year 2003. Hanumantiya Island Attractions Indira Sagar Dam forms a huge lake. Hanumantiya is developed to exploit the backwater of this dam. It offers accommodation, restaurant and boating, cruise ride facility on backwater. For accommodation, only one hotel is available.
