The terms Lingayatism and Veerashaivism have been used synonymously, but Veerashaivism may refer to the broader Veerashaiva viewpoint, to the historical community now called Lingayats, and to a distinct contemporary Saiva subtradition with Vedic influences. Lingayatism was founded, or revived, by the 12th-century philosopher and statesman Basava and spread by his followers among the Sharanas. Lingayatism is often considered a Hindu sect, sharing beliefs with Indian religions, but it rejects the authority of the Vedas, the caste system, and Hindu beliefs such as reincarnation and karma. Worship is centered on Shiva as the universal god in the iconographic form of Ishtalinga. Hanumantiya island is a newly introducted water tourism destination in Madhya Pradesh. It is near to Khandwa town. Hanumantiya island is developed and promoted by Madhya Pradesh Tourism. The name “Hanumantiya” is derived from local village name. According to State Tourism Department this region is suitable for water tourism activity. The whole water tourism project is developed over Indira Sagar Dam. Indira Sagar Dam is a multipurpose project at Central India. It was built on Narmada river. This Project was started in year 1984 by Prime Minister but main-dam construction started in year 1992. It was finally completed in year 2003. Hanumantiya Island Attractions Indira Sagar Dam forms a huge lake. Hanumantiya is developed to exploit the backwater of this dam. It offers accommodation, restaurant and boating, cruise ride facility on backwater. For accommodation, only one hotel is available.
